Most Egyptian Cotton bed linen you find online and in department stores is actually made from a blend. In many cases, the amount of Egyptian Cotton used is as low as 10%. Furthermore, most manufacturers produce the fabric by twisting fibres together, meaning that the 400tc you think you are buying is in fact 200tc.
To be referred to as Gold Standard the fabric must be made from 100% genuine Giza Egyptian Cotton with a true thread count of 400 (regarded by many as optimal thread count for luxury and breathability).
