Lantor Soric SF Flexible Foam Core
Description
Soric SF is a flexible, pressure stable, non-woven polyester fleece core material suitable for infusion and RTM (resin transfer moulding) processing. It is designed specifically for vacuum resin infusion. Unlike traditional core materials, such as Coremat, Soric SF had pressure stable cells that do not compress under vacuum, preserving its structure and thickness. These cells are separated by canals through which resin can easily flow during the resin infusion process. Once cured, these canals form a rigid plastic honeycomb that significantly increases the strength of the finished laminate.
Soric SF has a very low resin uptake and will save at least 30% more weight compared to solid laminate. The cells have high compression and shear strength, which results in a very rigid core. In addition, Soric SF removes the need for infusion mesh and peel ply, reducing layup time while saving money on bagging materials and wasted resin.
Soric SF can be used to add thickness to any infused laminate, including glass, carbon or Kevlar, and is compatible with all resin systems including polyester, vinylester and epoxy. Its usability, high compressive strength and smooth surface makes it suitable for all but the most stringently light-weight applications. Typical applications include marine hulls and decks, car panels and parts, industrial cladding and and leisure equipment such as kayaks and surfboards. It is particularly suitable as a core material in resin-infused carbon fibre vehicle panels.
