Nomex Commercial Grade Honeycomb Core 4.8mm Hexagonal Cell (48kg/m³)
Description
Nomex commercial grade honeycomb is a lightweight, high strength, honeycomb core material manufactured from aramid paper with a 4.8mm hexangular cell shape. Once the honeycomb is formed it is coated with a heat resistant phenolic resin to increase its strength and thermal properties. Nomex honeycomb offers a high strength-to-weight ratio, exceptional stiffness, and is very bondable.
Nomex is known for its excellent mechanical properties and sets the standard in none-metallic, lightweight core materials for sandwich composites. The 0.048g/cm³ commercial grade Nomex is considerably lighter than many alternative core materials such as closed cell PVC foam. It is used extensively in aerospace applications like cabinets, lockers and bulkheads as well as in high-performance motorsports including Formula 1 and WRC.
